If you are thinking about holding a Street Party this year then here is all the information you’ll need. We have updated our online application form and guidelines to make it quicker and simpler. Application dates: The date for your party is between 1 April to 31 May 1 June to 31 August 1 Sept to 30 Nov 1 Dec to 30 March Last date for applications 1st March 1st May 1st August 1st Nov We had a lot of feedback last year that our application process was a bit cumbersome so we have created a new website page with all the information you need and link to other sites that will help you plan a safe and fun day. But most importantly we have created a new online application form specifically for Street Parties. Here is the link to the new website page www.eventlambeth.co.uk/streetparties Lambeth Council continues to support our local communities and there will be no cost again this year to hold a street party. There is a hire fee for the road signs and barriers as this service is provided by an external company. Street Parties are small local gatherings with no commercial activity and take place between 10am and 8pm. If you wish to add additional activity to your Street Party we will work with you on this but it would be considered a ‘Street Event’ and could incur costs. We want to provide an update to local park users and residents following the first month of reinstatement post Winterville. It should be noted that all groundwork is paid for by the event organsiers. On the 10th January a Site handback took place with with members of the CCMAC, Lambeth Landscapes, Councillors, Event Organiser and EventLambeth. At this it was agreed that Lambeth Landscape would undertake the work and provide a quote based on the Agronomist recommendations from previous site visit. The planned reinstatement works will be as follows; Topsoil Around 80 tonnes of imported topsoil will be used to fill in of any ruts or depressions. This will consist ideally of a sandy loam to the current BS standard. Surplus soil will be spread evenly over more level areas subject to thinning ground cover. Verti-drain When ground conditions over the site are sufficiently firm, the verti-drain treatment will commence immediately. A small fixture fitted to a smaller tractor with grass tyres may be used initially, but the aim will be to achieve as substantial a compaction relief effect as possible. This means using as large a combination of verti-drain and tractor as the ground conditions will allow. If the combination is producing undue damage to the surface, the operation should be delayed until ground conditions are suitable. All areas of the site should be treated. Over-seeding Over-seeding will commence as soon as the verti-drain operation has completed, using a 100% dwarf perennial ryegrass seed mix. A standard sowing rate of 35 g/m2 will be adopted over all areas obviously affected by the event. We want to provide an update to local park users and residents following the event site handover from the SW4 and House of Common events which were held on 27, 28 and 29 August 2016. The incredibly dry and warm weather for this bank Holiday weekend meant that damage onsite was limited to the heaviest footfall areas only. These were assessed with the Lambeth Parks team, Chair of the Clapham Common Management Advisory Committee, the event organiser and our reinstatement company on Friday 2 September and agreement on the levels of reinstatement had been reached. The planned reinstatement works will be as follows; the area in front of the main stage will be fertilised and reseeded. The fertiliser is being placed on the event site on Monday 12 September to prepare the ground for seeding. The timing for reseeding will be confirmed but should also take place during the week commencing the 12 September. While on site the reinstatement company will also assess the ground as the entire event site will be verti-drained using a tractor with special ground spiking equipment. The purpose of verti draining and spiking is considerable benefit in the opening up and de-compacting of the soil structure to allow oxygen in to feed the grass roots. This process is used pre and post event season to also provide a conduit for surface water to drain away faster. This is a blog post to advise you of the Council’s new Guidance for the Control of Sound at Outdoor Events, developed following the Culture 2020 public consultation which took place in January to April 2015. We have a number of questions that we would like you to consider. These are set out at the end of this post. Why are we altering the sound levels? Our new Events Strategy sets out the number of major event days we will have across Lambeth. We have split the borough into 5 zones and have allocated up to 8 major event days per zone. This does not mean these events will be loud but we do want to have a sound policy that is suitable. We are proposing to have the same sound levels as other places such as Hyde Park or Victoria Park. This means we can have events that will raise income for Lambeth that we can then use to reinvest into our open spaces. For instance a concert on Clapham Common has previously raised over a £100,000 that can then be reinvested into our local open spaces. However, these event organisers are going elsewhere and Lambeth is losing out on this income. So what is changing? The changes consulted on in the Culture 2020 public consultation were an increase to the decibel levels for the major event day’s only. All other days will have lower levels as decided on a case by case basis. These levels will be monitored by onsite professional sound acousticians and there will be easy ways to raise any issues about these events through online and...
